Is cable TV dying? More and more people are discovering and watching music videos on YouTube and all over the internet. Well, the VMA’s ratings are in, and they aren’t great. The VMA’s this year hit an all-time low with their ratings.
The 2019 awards show which was shot live on August 26th had a new low of viewers tuning in. To be exact, only 1.93 million fans turned on MTV to watch. This number is down from 2.25 million in 2018. For comparison, the VMA’s in 2014 had around 10 million tuned in. The number of viewers has consistently been going downhill.
The show, however, was not short of superstars. Hosted by comedian Sebastian Maniscalco, there was an insane amount of talent present at the show. This included live performances by Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brothers, Shawn Mendes, and Miley Cyrus. Additionally, numerous musicians and celebrities were in attendance. Taylor Swift even dropped an f-bomb on live television.
