DJ Ashley Wallbridge Hospitalized For Meningitis

DJ and producer Ashley Wallbridge has been diagnosed with meningitis and has been hospitalized. Wallbridge’s long time friend and fellow collaborator Gareth Emery shared a long, heartfelt post on his Instagram encouraging fans to send love and good thoughts.

Wallbridge and Emery are co-owners of the trance record label Garuda Music. Most recently, they released 18-month long studio project Kingdom United as a collaborative effort. Check out the album trailer here.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

Meningitis is an inflammation (swelling) of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. A bacterial or viral infection of the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord usually causes the swelling. However, injuries, cancer, certain drugs, and other types of infections also can cause meningitis.

There are two categories of meningitis: viral and bacterial. Viral meningitis is serious, but is often less severe than bacterial. It can, however still leave one with lifelong health effects. Bacterial meningitis, on the other hand, can be deadly without immediate medical attention.

At this time, we are unaware of the type of meningitis that Ashley Wallbridge is fighting. We do know, sadly, that he cannot move his legs at all at the current moment.

Meningitis has the power and capability to alter one’s life forever. Gareth Emery is encouraging supporters to:

“PLEASE GIVE HIM A FOLLOW AND SEND HIM SOME LOVE EITHER ON HIS OWN PAGE OR THIS POST… HE HAS A MAJOR FIGHT ON HIS HANDS AND EVERY COMMENT/FOLLOW WILL MEAN A LOT.”
