Taylor Swift Frustrated After Scooter Braun Buys Rights To Her Music

News broke this weekend that Scooter Braun‘s company, Ithaca Holdings. has inked a new $300 million dollar deal with Big Machine Records. The deal gives them ownership of Taylor Swift’s six albums. It also comes with the catalogs from their entire roster.

Braun has been friends with Scott Borchetta, the founder of Big Machine Recordings, so this acquisition isn’t a huge surprise.

“The idea of Scott and I working together is nothing new, we’ve been talking about it since the beginning of our friendship. I reached out to him when I saw an opportunity and, after many conversations, realized our visions were aligned. He’s built a brilliant company full of iconic songs and artists. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? By joining together, we will create more opportunities for artists than ever before, by giving them the support and tools to go after whatever dreams they wish to pursue.” – Scooter Braun

Unfortunately, Taylor Swift isn’t too happy about it. Her history with Borchetta has left a bad taste in her mouth, as they’ve had trouble both personally and professionally in the past. Swift took to Tumblr to share her thoughts and despair with the world.
