Tom Hanks Denied Beer at Music Festival for Lack of ID

Tom Hanks is arguably one of the most talented actors in our lifetime, featured in countless blockbuster films. From Forest Gump to Toy Story, Hanks has done it all on the big screen. All of his roles had their challenges but it looks as if Hanks faced his largest ordeal at a recent music festival. He told the entire story on the Graham Norton show earlier this week.

Back in April, Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were attending the Stagecoach music festival in Southern California. It was a hot day, so the two decided to grab a beer at one of the many pavilions. When Hanks approached the counter, he expected the usual surprised guest but instead was asked for his ID bracelet.

“I give them a couple seconds to let the H-bomb drop… ‘Tom Hanks!’ ‘Hi how are you, nice to see you, could I have a draw please? ‘Oh yeah sure, could we see your ID bracelet?'”

First, how do you not recognize Tom Hanks? His iconic voice alone would be enough to give it away for most of us! Hanks replied to the tender stating “First of all, you know my name, and secondly, I’d like a beer”. Unfortunately, the workers claimed they could not serve him a beer unless he had an ID bracelet. Even worse, to get one, he would have to walk half mile away.

Hanks is currently 62 years old and in great shape but a half mile walk is a long way for anyone, just for a beer. Luckily, someone finally retrieved a bracelet for Tom, allowing him to get the cold beer he patiently waited for. We hope he didn’t miss his wife’s performance due to this painful ordeal. If Tom Hanks ever asks you for a beer, please don’t ask for his ID!
