Avicii’s posthumous album TIM was released just over 2 weeks ago—a gift that many believed might not ever release. After the tragic loss of Avicii, artists came together to finish the album, as wished by his family. Moreover, the intent was not to top charts and win every award possible. Rather, their goal was to keep the songs as close to Tim’s original concepts as possible. Under immense amounts of pressure, we can confidently say it was all worth it.
Fast forward to today. TIM has reached its rightful spot of #1 on Billboard’s Top Electronic/Dance albums chart. This accomplishment marks Avicii’s third LP to hit #1 in this category, following his albums True and Stories. After the release of TIM, the music world quickly fell in love with all 12 tracks. Each song on the album had an iconic Avicii sound, leaving an impact on all listeners, no matter where they came from.
It’s important to remember that TIM wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Avicii’s family and the countless artists that put their heart in each song. From the beloved voice of Aloe Blacc to the highly talented Vargas and Logola, Tim had large goals for this long-awaited album. While TIM will remain here for us to remember the life of Avicii, we can only hope that he is looking down, listening with us for years to come.
