Facebook Brings Licensed Tunes to ‘Birthday Stories’ Feature

Facebook Birthday Stories

Facebook has enlisted a number of stars and their music to the new ‘Birthday Stories’ feature. Starting May 10th, ‘Birthday Stories’ will become available for users to attach digital cards, photos and videos to help celebrate loved ones’ birthdays. This feature will also include a variety of famous birthday related songs to attach to the story.

To list a few, ‘Happy Birthday’ by Stevie Wonder;  ‘In Da Club (‘Go Shorty, It’s Your Birthday’)’ by 50 Cent; â€˜Birthday’ by The Beatles, and ‘Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen’ by Neil Sedaka are just some of the tunes available. However, if these classics don’t quite tickle your fancy, Facebook has also teamed up with a slew of artists to record brand new ‘Happy Birthday’ renditions. Some of those enlisted include Lukas Graham, Jovanie, Lauv, Raiche, SYML, Greyson Chance, Harper Starling, and Neda Yasee.

This move is just another small change Facebook has taken in a step in revamping their brand and branching platforms. In late 2017, Facebook reached a licensing deal with Universal Music Group to allow usage of their music. This was followed by other major licensing agreements with Sony/ATV in January, 2018. No doubt does this move indicate their plan to incorporate more licensed music for in-app features for the near future.

Beyond birthday songs, it’ll be fun to start being able to attach our favorite tunes to our stories and posts. No news as to when this next stage will be rolling out, but expect it shortly—so stay tuned!
