Adam Wiles, better known to us all by his stage name “Calvin Harris”, revealed in a recent radio show that he hates being called by his stage name when not behind the decks. Speaking to Boogie & Arlene of the Boogie & Arlene Show, Wiles said:
“No one calls me Calvin. It’s horrible and it’s not my name. You might as well be calling me Mr Blobby”.
He also added:
“At the start of my career people were meeting me for the first time and I let it slide. It was sort of a nickname.”
As aforementioned he let this slide in the initial days of his career but the real turning point for him came when a girlfriend of his started calling him by his stage name as well. That proved to be a tipping point for him. Wiles added:
“I was like, I’m sorry this is ridiculous. You’re speaking to my alter ego,”
Wiles also said:
“Since that day I’ve been like, ‘I don’t care if you think it’s a nickname or anything, it’s not my name.’”
So if you ever happen to stumble upon him in an airport or where ever be sure to remember to call him by his regular name, not his stage name. His name is Adam not ‘Calvin Harris”. And while you’re at it be sure to check out his latest single “Giant” with Rag’n’Bone Man, which he also revealed during the interview was written completely over email. And that he never actually met Rag’n’Bone Man to record anything.
