Native Instruments Announces Traktor DJ 2 App

Native Instruments announced today that it is releasing Traktor DJ 2, a follow-up app to the Traktor DJ, which first came out in 2013. The new Traktor DJ 2 will be a simpler version of NI’s Traktor Pro 3 software, and will allow cross-platform support for iOS, Windows, and Mac devices.

Additionally, Traktor DJ 2 will feature SoundCloud integration. The app allows users with SoundCloud GO+ accounts to load any track from SoundCloud to use as a song in their Traktor DJ 2 library. This feature is a first from NI, since their flagship Traktor Pro 3 does not currently offer the integration.

The new Traktor DJ 2 will allow direct integration with the Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3 controller, although users do not need a controller to use the app. All new units of the Kontrol S2 MK3 will include Traktor DJ 2 once the app is released. Current S2 MK3 owners will be able to get the app for free as a download.

Traktor DJ 2 will be priced at 49 USD, 49 EUR, and 44 GBP for those who do not own or plan to purchase a Kontrol S2 MK3 controller. NI did not give out a specific release date except that the app will be released sometime in Spring 2019. We will have to wait for the app to come out before giving a final verdict of its performance and comparisons with the Traktor Pro 3.
