Apple Reportedly Preparing 7th Gen iPod Touch & New iPads

Apple has leaked several clues about the tech giant’s upcoming devices. In the recent beta release of iOS 12.2 , A report by MacRumors hints at four new iPad models and one new iPod.  In the findings, four new iPads are listed as variants of “iPad11,” with both Wi-Fi and cellular models of the same device. The new iPod is labeled as “iPod9,” a designation that hasn’t been assigned to any existing iPods.

While this isn’t an official announcement, Apple recently registered seven new iPad models with the Eurasian Economic Commission Database; including models A2123, A2124, A2126, A2153, A2154, A2133, and A2152.

Eurasian Economic Commission filings like these have correctly predicted the release of new Apple products on numerous occasions. These include; multiple iPad and iPad Pro models, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 PlusApple Watch Series 2 and Series 4AirPods, and the 2018 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

This lends more credibility to the possibility that the company will release new devices in the near future.  Out of the four iPads listed in iOS 12.2, at least one of them is to be the rumored iPad mini 5. The iPad mini hasn’t seen an update since 2015, and rumors that emerged last year point to the possibility of Apple updating the tiny tablet very soon.

The iPod data mine is much more groundbreaking, as it could mean that Apple is developing a 7th-generation iPod Touch. The company hasn’t updated the iPod in over 3 years, so its very likely they would announce a new device in 2019.

There is no official announcement from Apple on the release of these devices, however March is a common month for Apple’s first event of the year. Look forward to Spring 2019 for more details.
