Snails & Wooli – Snailephant

Imagine this: it’s dark, an eerie fog rolls in as a single spotlight illuminates the arena. Epic music filters in. And then you hear it, the booming announcer “SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME…” You know you’re in for a treat. This is how it feels to listen to the new track by Snails. ‘Snailephant’ is a delight from the very first note.

It truly feels like the introduction to the most bizarre movie you will ever see. Half snail, half elephant, the stuff of nightmares, as the song declares. It’s a fun track that would make an enjoyable video. It’s the sort of song that you listen to live and after it’s over, you just go “What…?” but in a good way.

The sound is Snails’ characteristic “Vomitstep” a gurgling, gut-wrenching mix of bass and classic dubstep sounds. There is, of course, this announcing speaking about the Snailephant lore and even more disconcerting is the evil laughter that works its way throughout the track.

The song does cut off a bit abruptly, it feels as if it’s missing a beat or two before it ends in one final evil laugh. It’s also unclear who the Snailephant is fighting in the song. But perhaps this is all just one part of a larger Snails narrative. ‘Snailephant’ is only the beginning of the story as Snails has announced that he will be dropping a new EP called “SLIMEAGEDDON” later this year. While we patiently await the drop of the new EP, you can check him out live in performance at the cities below.
