Mau5traps’s techno protégé i_o is everywhere. “Hacking” his way into the scene just over a year ago, i_o has gained quite a following. His minimal and dark techno vibe is superbly exciting. And now we see his prowess behind the decks is of the same quality as his productions.
Eric Prydz’s ‘Generate’ is nothing short of iconic at this point. The classic Prydz synths with that heartfelt vocal on top make ‘Generate’ one hell of an anthem. Similarly Deadmau5 & Rob Swire’s latest collaboration ‘Monophobia’ is equally good. From that heart-wrenching melody to Rob’s insane vocals. These two tracks are in a class of their own and lo and behold here comes i_o. When I first saw the title for this I thought surely this mashup wouldn’t work right? Well, I was wrong (and I’m glad I was). From masterfully mixing ‘Monophobia’ with ‘Generate’ to the punchy techno drop he mixes it into, this mashup proves i_o should definitely be on your list of artists to see.
