After a string of high profile suicides in recent memory, from Avicii to Kate Spade to Anthony Bourdain, mental health awareness has been increasingly pertinent on everyone’s minds. International DJ Illenium, who has been very public about his battle with depression, has recently joined a new suicide prevention campaign.

The mega-DJ announced on Facebook last Thursday that he will be partnering with NV Concepts, an entertainment company, and Wicked Halloween to raise money for Suicide Prevention Lifeline. According to his post, for every 15-second video someone submits on Instagram for their reasons on staying alive and positive, NV Concepts will donate $1 to Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Accordingly, Illenium has opened up about his own battle with addiction and depression through making his song ‘Take You Down’. Through it, he expresses his sorrows and his dark journey through heroin addiction and succumbing to depression.

Thus from his journey, it is clear that Illenium cares deeply about this issue. If you would like to submit a video for the cause, make sure to use the hashtag #Awake and tag @illeniummusic and @NVConcepts for the video to be counted.
