Madison Square Garden Will Build Futuristic Sphere Venue in Las Vegas

Yup, you read it correctly. Madison Square Garden will be building a massive futuristic music venue in the heart of Las Vegas. Similar to the iconic Madison Square Garden venue in New York City, this new venue will have top of the line technology. The Las Vegas arena will have a crystal dome shape, capable of holding 23,000 visitors. It will also “revolutionize the way artists and audiences connect through its technological design”. Rumors about the new building spread like wildfire earlier this year but now that officials have signed the lease, construction will begin.

“the Sphere is being custom-built for the finest storytellers, artists and content creators across the globe.” (James Dolan, MSG CEO)

The Madison Square Garden Company is working with the Las Vegas Sands Corp for the upcoming project. The Las Vegas Sands Corp owns the next door Venetian and Palazzo Casinos. Early reports say the Las Vegas Sands Corps plans to supply $75 million in funding for the project. Unlike normal arenas with simplistic roofing, the early renderings show the venue with a projection of planet earth under the glass. Even more impressive, the all-glass exterior looks to be floating as people walk underneath.

With the official filings completed with the US SEC this past Monday, the project is expected to be done by 2023. With high expectations, MSG intends to have the arena open by the end of 2020. MSG also plans to open a similar venue in London soon thereafter. Once completed, the venue will be a must see attraction for anyone visiting Las Vegas. Who do you want to see play at this new MSG venue?
