Steve Angello Blasts Modern Rappers As Bad Role Models

There’s a side to Steve Angello‘s musical legacy that we don’t often hear about. While he is known for his unbelievable talent in the electronic music industry, he also has experience in his early years as a hip-hop DJ.

Obviously, music is close to the producer’s heart. It evidently shines through in his masterful 21-track album, Human, where the producer collaborates with a variety of different artists, such as Pusha THighly Sedated, and T.D. Jakes.

However, last night on Instagram, Steve Angello made it clear that he is definitely not pleased with the rap and hip-hop industry today. His social media rant had an intense message for ‘new rappers’, especially referring to the rise in popularity of artists such as Lil Pump, Lil Xan and 6ix9ine.

He explained that, growing up, he was inspired by how artists came from the streets and found massive success. It is sad to say, but it’s true: Some of the most popular artists of today do only promote gun violence, drug abuse and sexual assault in their music. It is heartbreaking to admit, but some have even said that it has led to a dangerous culture in the music industry. Even Diplo called out this trend after the tragic death of Lil Peep.

While there are definitely a number of rappers who are the epitome of bad music, thankfully, there are still some we can appreciate (shout out to Childish Gambino who damn near broke the internet last week with ‘This is America‘).
