 Claude VonStroke – Walay (My Bae)
It is no surprise that Papa Bird aka Claude VonStroke is back once again with some heavy hitting tunes. The leader of Dirtybird Records has been on a roll lately. After taking his Barclay Crenshaw project to Coachella, releasing the techno masterpiece ‘Grenade‘ with Eprom, and now a new EP.
VonStroke’s two-track Walay (My Bae) EP is short but packs a punch with some seriously innovative house. He is never expected to make the same song twice and that’s what we love about him. Every time Claude releases something new, it is always so different than the last.
The opening track ‘Walay (My Bae)‘ is a funky, feel-good tech house song. The keyboard-esque synths over the repetitive vocals are so simple, yet so effective. Then, the EP finishes up with ‘Raw Nerve‘, a slowly drawn out rhythm with that old school Claude sound we all know and love. The deep morbid vocals make you feel some type of way.
