Avicii’s True Jumps Back Into the Billboard 200 Charts

 Avicii’s Passing Spurs Music Revival

Five days after his death, Avicii’s True album is on track to re-enter the Billboard 200 chart next week as well as join the top 40 for the first time since the albums original release back in 2013. According to industry analysts, True could earn over 20,000 equivalent album units by the end of the week ending on April 26. In the week prior it had earned nearly 1,000 units according to Nielsen Music.

Ranking the most popular albums of the week, the Billboard 200 chart works based off a multi-metric consumption. This system takes into account traditional album sales and tracks equivalent sales. Going by these metrics, it is safe to assume that we will see the Swede’s most successful album reappear on the Billboard 200 Charts for the week ending on May 5th when it’s released on April 29th.

True housed Avicii’s most successful hit ‘Wake Me Up’ which ruled the the Hot/Dance Electronic chart for 26 weeks along with reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

According to Nielsen Music, on the day of his passing, on demand U.S. audio and video streams of Avicii’s music grew 1,838 percent when compared to the day prior(25.3 million versus 1.3 million). His on-demand audio streams skyrocketed from 694,000 to 9.3 million, rising by 1,246 percent. Video streams also skyrocketed by 2,512 percent(up to 15.9 million from 609,000).

It takes a true musical genius to leave their mark on the world so it should come to no surprise that Avicii’s passing has resulted in a rival of success for his most notable works. Although he may be gone his music will continue thriving.
