New year means new music, right? Well, with not much word from Flume since his blessed album Skin, we finally got a treatKnown for a super-friendly atmosphere and awesome line-ups, Field Day Festival is the best way to celebrate New Year’s. For the 17th year, Field Day became a rite of passage for Sydney residents as beyond wanting to start their year off with a bang. All the hip-hop, house and electronic artists from around the world gathered here in celebration. Vince Staples, ScHoolBoy Q, DJ Snake, Baauer, and many more were secured as talent. Joining the festivities was the Australian producer himself. He previewed a brand new ID, which means someone’s been hard at work in the studio.

A fan captured the live moment and post it to for us to enjoy. The track is classic Flume— light, cheerful, and defined by its eccentric electronic embellishments. Sprinkle it with mounting percussive elements, the ID distinguishes itself as a pending would-be fan favorite. His style is renowned and something you can tell right off the bat. Of all the enchanting past remix albums and companion EPs that graced our ears, our hearts need more. So, when is the release? 

A definitive timescale by when new music from Mr. Future Bass will arrive remains elusive. But his gift of this ID gives us all something to hope for. We anticipate new music is on the horizon from him. For those that haven’t heard of Flume, now is the time to do so. The continuation of his era will make this year even better.
