It is not uncommon for technology to cause some unfortunate side effects. Apple‘s HomePod smart speakers confirm that this statement is indeed correct as many consumers have been complaining about the downside of this product.
Rumors have been recently circulating online stating that the $349 technology investment is leaving rings on wooden surfaces.
HomePod owners have been tackling this regrettable issue through the use of social media in efforts to shed awareness of the matter, as well as express their obvious frustrations.

Apple has since confirmed the issue at hand on their support page, stating:
“It is not unusual for any speaker with a vibration-dampening silicone base to leave mild marks when placed on some wooden surfaces.The marks can be caused by oils diffusing between the silicone base and the table surface, and will often go away after several days when the speaker is removed from the wooden surface.”
This is not the first time issues like this have risen about Apple’s products. Users have also complained about products like the Echo Dot resulting in the same problems. It’s safe to say that multi-billion dollar company should have addressed the issue before the product hit the market, instead of hiding its clear flaws from the public.
Their continued response included: “if you’re concerned about this, we recommend placing your HomePod on a different surface.” Thanks for the tip, Apple… we’ll be thinking twice before purchasing your damaging devices.
