MIA for 11 years, progressive house twosome Gabriel & Dresden dropped a single ‘You (feat. Jan Burton)’ off of their Dec. 15 sophomore album release on Anjunabeats dubbed The Only Road. In 2006 and 2007 Gabriel & Dresden were sanctioned the International Dance Music Awards‘ “Best American DJ.” They walked away from it all and each other, after playing 2008’s Miami Winter Music Conference.
Welsh music producer/singer Jan Burton lent his haunting vocals to ‘You’ the album’s last teaser track. Calming with relatable lyrics, ‘You’ evolves throughout it’s 4:17 lifespan into a dynamic dance-the-night-away club staple.
Seven hundred Gabriel & Dresden devotees raised $73,000 on Kickstarter, to pay for The Only Road‘s studio session and recording fees. As an incentive, Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden (Gabriel & Dresden) promised patrons production credits, signed CDs, and a four-hour house party.
“Melody and emotion are making a comeback,” said Gabriel & Dresden. “This re-awakening inspired us after 11 years to make a new album. We wanted to get back to our roots and make something that celebrated our past while at the same time, giving us a chance to look to the future.”
