Yotto – North EP
Finnish DJ and producer, Yotto, released his latest EP North on SoundCloud and it is definitely one that deep house fans will appreciate. In the past, the Finnish DJ and producer worked alongside with famous musicians such as Above & Beyond, Lane 8, and Coldplay. But this time around, instead of collaborating with other artists, Yotto produced his own original independent EP.
The EP reflects the sounds of the producer’s homeland of Finland with its mix of chilly and warm wintry sounds. Yotto, well-known for his experimental house music, showcases his talents in music production with the complex layering of sounds throughout the EP.
The five tracks on the EP have been cleverly made and placed to take the audience member on a journey. ‘Ghost Signal’ sets the mood for the EP with the light atmospheric pads and large brass sounds, but the audience is brought to a low point as ‘Off the Grid’ comes in with its dark extraterrestrial sounds. ‘North,’ brings the energy back up with its melodic tones with a slight mix of harsh synths. However, the ominous sounds in ‘Isolation’ and the tribal beats gives a sense of danger. The musical trip ends in a state of peace with the euphoric track, ‘Edge of Affection.’
The title track, ‘North,’ has recently been featured on Annie Mac’s famed radio show, BBC Radio 1. This is Yotto’s third EP and it was made to impress, listen to ‘North’ below.
