Ticketmaster and Songkick Headed To Trial

Ticketmaster Lose Motion For Summary Judgement Against Songkick, Headed To Trial.

Ticketmaster has lost their motion for summary judgement in their case with Songkick. Judge Dale Fisher denied the ticketing monster, Ticketmaster, a quick win. Both companies are going to trial with this decision. If you want to catch up on this lawsuit click here.

Moreover, Ticketmaster wanted some of the 11 claims thrown out through this motion. Judge Dale Fisher granted this motion in favor of Songkick due to Ticketmaster’s “overwhelming market share”. Going on to state that Ticketmaster has the power to block Songkick from “acquiring any business from artists for pre-sale ticketing servicing needs.”

In the light of the ruling, Adam Schiffer the COO for Songkick, stated:

We are gratified that the judge has dismissed Live Nation’s request for summary judgment today, allowing all 11 of the claims we made against the company in our amended complaint in February to be addressed at the trial

Furthermore, some of the claims against Ticketmaster include: contractual interference, trade secret theft, and computer hacking. The trial will take place in November. Will Songkick be able to take on an industry giant?
