Ephwurd Launches Eph’d Up Records

Datksik and Bais Haus’ duo Ephwurd has quickly become one of the biggest names in the bass music scene. So far they’ve rocked the EDM world with their remix of Major Lazer‘s “Lean On” and their collaboration with Jauz, “Rock the Party.”

Since 2015, Ephwurd has continued pushing the music scene forwards, most notably helping popularize the growing Bass House genre. And the newest announcement from the duo ignites the same fire found at their energetic club and festival shows: the launch of Eph’d Up Records.

The new label debuts with the long awaited release of Ephwurd’s new song “Phunky Beats.” The incredibly popular track frequents any set played by Ephwurd and represents exactly what the duo wants from their label.

According to the Ephwurd Twitter, this project makes the guys “SO EPH’ING HAPPY.” Why? Because they can deliver real music to their fan base, when they want to. Although getting signed to a major record label can sound like a great thing for an artist, it can also put constraints on creativity, forcing artists to fit into a specific mold. Ephwurd expressed this as one of the big reasons for moving forward with the project.

Fitting into a mold would hardly describe the two bass music fanatics. This is particularly true when considering their out-of-the-box musical productions and their regular blending of traditional house rhythms with the gritty dubstep sound. This will be Bais Haus’s first foray into the Record Label business, but fans of Datsik are well aware of Firepower Records.

With nearly five years of experience as a record label owner, the pressure will definitely be on Datsik. Firepower also supports a crew heavy in the star department. Datsik, Excision and Getter helped to propel the company, as they were featured on four of the first ten Firepower releases. It will be interesting to see who Ephwurd decides to support for their first release after “Phunky Beats.”
