EDM Community Reacts to Las Vegas Attack

Last night a gunman opened fire on a crowd at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The crowd of 22,000 was attending a country music festival when around 10pm the act of terror occurred sparking chaos and fear. The tragedy has already been named as “the deadliest mass shooting in modern America” with 58 people killed and 515 injured.

The gunman identified as Stephen Paddock, 64, was discovered dead in his 32nd-floor room. Over ten guns and rifles were discovered in the room. He was a resident of Mesquite, Nevada and had no background of criminal activity.

At this moment no ties have been discovered between him and any terrorist groups, however ISIS has already claimed responsibility. US Officials have not discovered any evidence that links Paddock to ISIS. In May ISIS produced a video calling for more attacks and hinted at Vegas being a target. This created concern amongst the EDM community as EDC Las Vegas was to occur one month from the threat.

The EDM community quickly took to social media to express its grief and support for the tragedy. Vegas is a huge destination for EDM fans and this loss hits too close to home.
