TOKiMONSTA Speaks Out About Her Rare Condition And Recent Brain Surgeries

TOKiMONSTA has made a name for herself through her music and her impressive performances at large scale festivals and events such as Burning Man, EDC Las Vegas, and Lightning In A Bottle. The artist – whose real name is Jennifer Lee – has not missed a beat and continues to rise in popularity as her skills are increasingly recognized and appreciated.

Lee took to social media earlier this week to bring attention to a different subject. She – very bravely – informed us all of a battle she has been fighting that very few of her followers were aware of. She explained that she has undergone two brain surgeries a due to a rare condition known as Moyamoya – a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain in an area called the basal ganglia.

In her Facebook post, the indie electronic queen of Los Angeles gives a brief statement on what her experience has been like. Read it fully below.

Lee goes into more detail about dealing with the many obstacles she faced during this phase in her life such as struggling to make sense out of music, day-to-day functions like walking, speaking & talking, and even dealing with a breakup. She chose not to speak publicly on this back then and instead chose to keep it close to a few of her close friends and loved ones.

It is inspiring to see her now back to 100% and absolutely killing it with her recent releases. We wish her the best and that she keeps persevering against all odds.
