The Prodigy Announces New Single Coming This Year, New Album To Be Released In 2018

Good news has arrived for all fans of The Prodigy. The band recently announced via social media that they are dropping a new tune before the end of the year, along with a new album that will come in 2018.

The announcement, which unfortunately doesn’t get into details about specific release dates, has been clearly well received by their followers. In just a few hours it gathered nearly 17,000 likes and was retweeted more than 600 times.

A little over a year ago, band leader Liam Howlett stated in an interview with British magazine NME that the group was going to focus only on releasing EPs, not being interested in creating albums anymore.

We want to get to the point where we release EPs instead of albums. We’re not really bothered about releasing albums anymore. […] The whole process just takes too long.

Fortunately for us, it seems that the Godfathers of Rave have changed their mind about this. They just signed a new deal with music publishing company BMG Rights Management to record and release an album in 2018. This will be the band’s seventh studio album, following The Day Is My Enemy, which came out in 2015.

The Prodigy started their road into electronic music back in 1990. With sales of more than 30 millions records worldwide, they are considered the creators of the Big Beat genre. We certainly hope the new album gives us more of those sounds.
