‘Look What You Made Me Do’ Surpasses ‘Despacito’ and Becomes No. 1

You have probably been living under a rock if you haven’t heard about Taylor Swift‘s new smash-hit revenge anthem entitled ‘Look What You Made Me DO‘ (LWYMMD) that has been stirring up quite the controversy during the past couple of weeks. Her super-sassy way of firing shots towards many of her public celebrity rivalries have unsurprisingly just kicked Justin Bieber‘s hot summer track ‘Despacito‘ from the Billboard Hot 100 list.

It feels as though we’ve been hearing about the American singer’s spicy new track for a while now…but, in fact, it has only been a mere 2 weeks. Thanks to the creative songwriter’s faithful fans the song has the highest weekly streams by a woman in music’s history. If you want to get your facts straight that’s about 88.4 million streams during the tracked course of the week which completely annihilates Adele’s stunning piece ‘Hello‘ which had 61.4 millions streams in the past.

One might remember Baauer‘s interactive tune entitled ‘Harlem Shake‘ – surprisingly enough, Swift still has yet to crush his record for the most weekly streams…but if the pop artist has proven anything in her past it’s that her success is not stopping anytime soon.

Let’s just all be thankful that the Canadian icon, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s remix is slowly dying down. Although the song was extremely catchy, tied the record for 16 straight weeks on the number one charts (matched only by Boyz II Men’s and the talented Mariah Carey’s ‘One Sweet Day’) and had a great melody, I think it’s safe to say that we have all had our dose of the piece and are looking forward to moving on to new and better beats!

For old time sake, here it is one more time:
