If you are like us, and always trying to find cool, new sounds from unexpected places, look no further than the latest from University of Southern California student Jack Dugan, who has put his touch on Coldplay’s 2000 hit song “Yellow.”

One might think it’d be very difficult to readapt the emotional love song from the British rock band into a dance music ballad, but Dugan certainly found a way. Employing ethereal future bass chords and cleverly placed drums, the young producer kept the emotion of the original while elevating the energy just the right amount.

Formerly a student at the University of Miami, Dugan recently transferred to USC to finish his degree while continuing to pursue a career in music. If his “Yellow” remix is any indication of his progress, you should be hearing this kid’s name more as he continues to grow as a producer. You can check out his remix of “Yellow” on Soundcloud below, and make sure to throw the kid a follow to hear more from the young talent.
