Man Who Ran Into Burning Man Fire Dies At Hospital

On Saturday night (Sept. 2), a man was rescued from one of the burning sculptures in Burning Man Festival. This person not yet identified, evaded the security perimeter and ran straight into the fire.

According to the official statement from Burning Man, the attendee was rescued by Black Rock City fire personnel. He was treated on-site and later transported to UC Davis Hospital where he died. It is known that attendees of the festival have tried to run into the flames as a symbol of rebirth.

Over 70,000 people are attending the 26th installment of the festival in Northern Nevada. Burning Man Festival, known for its unique view of culture and celebration of art, is ran by over 2,000 organizers and volunteers. The nine day festival is known for the traditional ending: the burning of the 50 foot statue.
