Sub:mergedSub.Merged Festival of Breda, Netherlands has been forced to cancel and has moved the date back to September 2018. The festival’s owner Mohammed M. said the decision was a difficult one but a necessary choice to ensure the festival is able to deliver the full experience. The following statement was released on Facebook by the festival:

The “World’s Biggest Techno Festival” was originally scheduled for July of 2017 but the festival was moved to September for health and safety concerns. A total of 150 international artists were scheduled to perform at the three day festival including Boris, Christian Smith, Dr. Motte, Joop Junior, Mark Reeve, Roger Martinez, and The Yellowheads. The weekend of September 21 was chosen to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the signing of the city of Breda’s major peace treaty and the International Day of Peace. Sub:Merged was dedicated to promoting a slogan of peace and found the peaceful centric weekend of September 21st to compliment it. Sub:Merged was scheduled to end with a “Gathering” event to send everyone off with a powerful message of “peace, love, unity, and respect”.

Several problems had occurred from the Festival’s initial date change from July to September. In addition to creating a brand new line up, sub:Merged faced a large amount of negative publicity forcing investors to pull out of the festival. Festival organizers have already started planning on correcting this year’s mishap.

Mohammed M. stated in an interview with Techno Moves,”We have learned very well from what happened this year. We already started the work now to give ourselves all the time we need. We will release the full line up later this year, and we will not put the tickets on sale until we have the full line up released and license confirmed.”

Sub:merged was to be a unique festival that offered a family experience involving the festival’s first edition tickets equating to shares of the company. A single ticket event would equal one share, a weekend ticket would equal two shares, and the full weekender plus camping ticket would equal to three shares. The company still plans to continue with their ticket and share portion idea next year. Tickets bought for this year’s canceled edition will be fully refunded.

The festival still plans to make it’s premiere in 2018. A total of 100,000 visitors are expected to attend for next September.
