Justin Jay Releases New Single “Time” Today Via Fantastic Voyage

Following his recently released single “Stuck In My Head”, DIRTYBIRD’s baby boy Justin Jay is back with his newest single “Time”. Upbeat and funky, “Time” is an appropriate follow-up from “Stuck In My Head” as the single also features an eclectic mix of sounds. Aside from Jay’s vocals and songwriting talent, the tune features Benny Bridges on guitar and Henry Was on the drums. The song starts slow and easy with Jay’s auto-tuned yet soothing vocals layered across a consistent beat, then groovy bass guitar beats and catchy synth work come into play as “Time” curates its own genre of music, garnering influences from House, Funk, and Psychedelic/Alt Rock genres. The single highlights Jay’s continuous efforts to experiment with cross-layering multiple styles of music together, only to bring them all together with his creative sound design and production of funky beats, bass lines, and self-recorded vocals.

“Time” is released on Jay and his friends’ imprint “Fantastic Voyage”; the label has released music from talents such as Sam Von Horn, Ardalan, and Fritz Carlton. Quoted from Justin Jay himself, in regards to his new single he quotes: “Time” is a deep intersection between my love for making beats/sounds and my exploration of live music, jamming with my homies. So many parts of the song came about while Benny Bridges, Henry Was and I were hanging out, messing around, just having fun. When my bandmates and I get to perform “Time” live, I feel my inner-8th Grader realizing those childhood ambitions and it makes me really happy.

He also provided us with this fancy video of him including his live band into a house party. Check it out below.
