Travelers, Beware: Ibiza Airport Will Be Affected By 24-Hour Strikes

Once again, strikes are scheduled for Spanish airports and the Ibiza airport is listed as one of them. You may want to rethink your travel plans if you were headed to the popular island getaway for the closing parties, since last time this happened things weren’t so pretty.

Under the Spanish Authority AENA, union representatives have selected 25 days of strikes that will occur between September 15 to December 30. Strikes will be a 24-hour affair and are a continuation of the strikes that began in the spring earlier this year. The reason of the strikes are due to a dispute over pay.

Previously when strikes occurred, the Ibiza airport was left in a state of “disgust” and an ultimately became a potential public health hazard. Pictures depicting mounds and mounds of empty bottles, trash, and even human waste were taken from the strikes in May. The poor conditions included bathrooms being shut down due to a lack of supplies and no cleaning workers on duty.

Here are the scheduled dates of strikes, so keep these in mind as you make your travel plans:

September: 15, 17, 22, 24, 29
October: 1, 6, 11, 15, 27, 30, 31
November: 3, 5
December: 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30
