Conor Patton, better known as Conro, is one musician to keep on your radar. The Canadian producer has been steadily on the rise, having performed at Martin Garrix‘s Ushuaïa Ibiza show and Tomorrowland last month. Now, he has finally released his debut EP, Connecting the Dots, and it is full of total EDM bangers. The five-track EP contains previous singles ‘Close’ and ‘Lay Low’, as well as three new tracks. From start-to-finish, it is full of solid songwriting and production, masterfully balancing energy and nuance.

‘Close’ is a lush future bass track with a powerful drop, a memorable vocal hook, and delicate piano flourishes that help give the track a more organic feel. The second track, ‘Circus’, features Beckii Power has a more subdued approach, trading a bombastic drop for a syncopated, rubbery synth riff with pitched vocals that would fit in well on Top 40 radio. ‘Remedy’ is perhaps the highlight of the EP, revisiting the future bass synths from ‘Close’ but in a mid-tempo, four-on-the-floor setting that drives the energy forward. ‘Lay Low’ features David Benjamin and utilizes mesmerizing pitch and formant shift effects on the vocals to create an interesting and memorable hook. Lastly, the final track, ‘Love Divine’, features vocals from Alice Berg and is the perfect summation of the EP, revisiting the sounds of the previous tracks while bringing them to new heights. The song ends with contemplative piano chords, a bittersweet moment that also serves to highlight Conro’s musical abilities.

Overall, Connecting the Dots is a strong, cohesive EP that will certainly expand Conro’s following and perhaps push him further into the spotlight. As an electronic music producer who also plays the violin, piano, guitar, and the drums, Conro is a talented musician, and you’ll likely hear more from him soon.
