Oshi Premieres New Track With Skrillex & Sober Rob on Diplo and Friends

Oshi and Skrillex

UK artist Oshi, a producer who should be on your radar if he isn’t already, was the featured guest on BBC1 Radio’s Diplo and Friends mix series for July 22. In the mix, he debuted a brand new unreleased collaboration with perhaps the biggest name and taste-maker in the industry, Skrillex, as well as fellow up-and-coming producer Sober Rob. Oshi teased a possible collaboration with Skrillex back in 2016 and that joint effort is finally seeing the light of day.

The cut from the Diplo and Friends mix features a brassy melody and some scintillating synths, which eventually lead to a glitchy breakdown complemented by further brass and string elements. This track features both chaos and beauty all in one. Oshi is known for bucking trends and this track certainly doesn’t neatly fit into one category.

Last year we saw the meteoric rise of teenage phenom Oshi, real name Joshua Brennan. Brennan made huge waves with his redo of Kali Uchi’s Ridin Round,” which now sits at an outstanding 19.6 million plays and garnered the attention of pop superstar Lorde. Since then, he has released a string of both original tracks and remixes, putting his own stamp on the future bass / trap crossover genre. You can check out our 2016 interview with Oshi here.  With this new push from Skrillex, Oshi and Sober Rob are poised to become breakout stars.

Of course the track wouldn’t be what it is without the contributions of Sober Rob, who consistently makes some of the best cross-genre music in the game right now. You can check out his EP Enlighten, released last year, by clicking here. Both producers don’t fit into one specific genre box, and they don’t seem to want to. They are riding the next wave in electronic music where producers just make the music they want without worrying about genres. They last collaborated six months ago on an enchanting track entitled “Lost.”
