Nutty – Sex & Minimal Tech EP

Joey McNulty, better known as Nutty, has done justice to his name by making some funky, eccentric and unique tech house tunes. His bio on various social media platforms clearly indicates that his music is influenced by house, techno and hip-hop, but funk and soul are also vital elements to his self-proclaimed “100% experimental” style as well. The artist is now making that even more clear with the release of his new EP, Sex & Minimal Tech.

Sex & Minimal Tech is his second EP and sure sounds fresh and exciting. The EP, released off Art Department Records, consists of two tracks. The first, ‘Sex & Minimal Tech (Original Mix)’, starts on a very smooth baseline with deeper, darker and often distorted kicks that provide a genuine club-like suave to it. Like most minimal numbers, this one too hovers around the melodic bassline at a laid back 120 – 125 BPM mark and also has smooth vocals to go with it. If you’re one who embraces the deep and minimal side of techno, we highly recommend giving this track a listen.

The second track, ‘Lemme Smash (Original Mix)’ is a quite akin to the first, though this one has a darker, deeper sound to it. The distorted and experimental style that Nutty has utilized to produce this techno and deep house-inspired track shows that he could soon become a household name on the circuit.

‘Sex & Minimal Tech (Original Mix)’ is my favoured number from the EP. In my opinion, a hep nightclub by the beach would be a apt setting for Nutty’s two tracks form the EP and I won’t be surprised if this soon becomes a reality.
