After endless anticipation for this perennial collaboration, Dirtyphonics, Bassnectar, and Ragga Twins have alas released their heart-pounding single, “Watch Out”. This dynamic triad of household names in electronic music certainly live up to the heightened expectations of such dominant (right word?) monikers in the genre with a seamless blend of Dirtyphonics’ fast pace Drum & Bass roots, Bassnectar’s sheer power, and Ragga Twins’ ruthless grit.
“I was playing a show in Paris and hung out in the studio with the Dirtyphonics guys, we had this insane loop going and every time the downbeat synth hit everyone made the same facial expression which was kind of like a “GRRRRRR” grimace, but also like a really weird sense of pleasure at the same time and someone kept saying “mayhem mayhem mayhem” – then it took us like 89 years to finish cuz we kept making different versions, passing back and forth between half a dozen humans – glad to see it finally alive and able to fly free into the world – fly free, song! watch out! Also, I’ve been a fan of The Ragga Twins for eons, and it was a great honor to get a dubplate from them, and it all fit perfectly over this beat – viva collaboration!” -Bassnectar
