Skrillex Returns to the Red Carpet

It is always interesting to see how the Grammy’s, “music’s biggest night”, represents the electronic music scene in an award show that is clearly geared toward more popular genres and artists.  However, this year did see its fair share of electronic acts.  With Daft Punk performing alongside The Weeknd and both Flume and The Chainsmokers winning awards, some of the bigger names in the scene were well represented.

Sonny Moore aka Skrillex, who is no stranger to the red carpet, having won both Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronica Album in the past, returned once again for two nominations. This time for his work producing “Purpose” with Justin Bieber and for “Purple Lamborghini” as seen in the movie Suicide Squad.  Sonny chatted with MTV’s Meredith Graves and was noticeably very excited to be back.  In response to his success he says that “musically I’m just being myself” and “I’m the same dude,” staying down to earth while thankful for his strong work ethic and progress.  You can watch the full red carpet interview also featuring Travis Barker, Lil Yachty and more on Youtube.
