Gareth Emery’s “Saving Light” Reaches #1 On Beatport

Gareth Emery

For the first time in what seems like forever, the trance genre has snagged a number one position on Beatport. Garth Emery and Standerwick’s “Saving Light” featuring HALIENE has beat out tech house monster “Swagon” by Detlef featuring Ossey James and “Same Man” by Franky Rizardom which seemingly only proves that trance is finally making the comeback that has been whispered and rumored for quite some time.

Along with this announcement that Gareth made in a Facebook post, he also touches on some of the nasty and rude comments and behavior by the trance family about the usage of the genre to define some of his newer works. He brings up how people are still butt hurt that Tiësto and Armin van Buuren “abandoned” the scene and defends them by saying without their productions and influence, trance wouldn’t be where it is today. Partnering with Ditch the Label on the record, one of the world’s largest pro-equality and anti-bullying charities whom each week provide pioneering and award-winning support to thousands of people aged 12-25, the unified message both artist and charity are projecting instills confidence for the future.

While criticism is always warranted, make the feedback positive. I’ve said it more than once in my time writing for EDMTunes, but if you don’t have anything nice to say about a certain production, whether it is the specific genre attached to the tune or just your overall perception of the quality, just keep your mouth shut.
