The Chainsmokers’ “Closer” Breaks Another Billboard Record

The Chainsmokers’ ongoing success doesn’t seem like it is going to end any time soon. The duo has just broke another record with their monster 2016 hit “Closer“. This week marks the 27th week that the track has spent at the number 1 spot on the Billboard‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, breaking previous record holder “Wake Me Up” by Avicii, which held the number 1 spot for 26 weeks in 2013 and 2014. In addition, “Closer” has gained the Digital Gainer honors this week by selling over 34,000 downloads. Closer has now spent the most weeks in the top five positions of Hot 100’s top five of any track of all-time.

The Chainsmokers’ debut album, Memories… Do Not Open, is set to release April 7th, prior to the kickoff of their North American tour. “Paris” and “Something Just Like This” have been announced as the first two tracks that will be on the album, but the duo has promised all other songs will be brand new. Can The Chainsmokers album contain tracks that can surpass the success of “Closer”? Stay tuned to EDMTunes for further updates on their upcoming album.
