DJs Solomun and Dixon are showing wonderfully charitable character in their most recent collaborative endeavor to raise money for an educational project in Tulum, Mexico. The city is located not too far south of Playa Del Carmen, where the recent – and tragic – BPM Festival incident occurred.
The original idea was to throw a party with music provided by Solomun and Dixon and charge a $20 entrance fee. All of the money collected at the door would be given straight to Gonzalo Guerrero Primary School where it would help complete the building of a sports field, new toilets, and classrooms. However, the fatal BPM shootings occurred the night before the party was scheduled, inciting them to cancel the event. However, this did not crush their charitable spirits.
Solomun and Dixon stated in a Facebook post that they did not want the children depending on the funds to suffer, so are donating the money themselves and asking fans to help. They are encouraging the the people who were planning on attending to donate the money they would have spent on the ticket anyways since it’s for a good cause.
