Deadmau5’s BBC Radio 1 Residency Debut Is Nothing Short of Spectacular

Deadmau5 BBC

Deadmau5's BBC

In deadmau5’s BBC Radio 1 debut show for his residency of 2017, he begins where he left off on the day before New Years Eve; mixing and matching what you would expect from the masked producer while throwing in some techno from the likes of Maceo Plex, Max Cooper and Pig&Dan, which surprisingly work really well with the productions he is classically known for.

“Well once a month I’ll be hijacking the airwaves and playing whatever i feel like. Sorry.”

He’s obviously not sorry and he shouldn’t be. Being a taste maker and influencer, Deadmau5’s level of notoriety gives him the unique opportunity to experiment. With the demographic of electronic music shifting their tastes from big room and dubstep to deep house, techno and anything with the name future before the genre title, you are witnessing more and more artists dabble in different art forms of the musical sphere. Towards the end, he even sneaks in some Jon Hopkins and Boards of Canada. Yum.
