Over the course of evolution for dance music there have been producers that have defined the genre. Tiësto, deadmau5, Kaskade, Carl Cox, all legends in their own right that paved the way for a new generation of artists. These producers have expanded horizons, taken new direction, and forced musicians and production to new creative levels. One other name that could be added to this list is Avicii.
After 2016, fans were unsure of the role Avicii would be playing in dance music. A very public fallout with his longtime manager followed by the announcement of his retirement due to health issues had us all concerned for his well-being. But after an Instagram post earlier this month, where Avicii promised, “the best damn album” of his career, things started looking up.
Now, just weeks later, he has previewed some of his time in the studio. The clips are short, but give us a few glimpses of some beautiful vocals he’s using as well as some very smooth piano interludes. It’s early to say, but this new album could be a total new direction for Avicii and something that we’ve never heard before. Stay tuned!
