Earlier in the year, Kid Cudi made headlines after a high-profile beef with Kanye West and Drake. Shortly afterwards, he checked himself into rehab due to depression and suicidal thoughts, telling fans, “I simply am a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions everyday of my life”. Finally, a little less than two weeks ago, the Grammy-winning rapper capped off a wild 2016 by releasing his sixth studio album Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’.Â
DeBoer decided to mark the occasion by dropping his take on a Scott Mescudi classic. Kid Cudi is known for combining hip hop with rock, so it’s only fitting that the Canadian producer took the same approach for his rework. DeBoer’s “Day ‘N’ Nite” remix blends elements of both rock and electronic music to create a fusion that few producers would dare to attempt.
