Electric Zoo Artist Spotlight: Lane 8

Lane 8

California-native producer Lane 8 strives to bring his fans a world of complete musical immersion. For the past two years, the young artist has presented a special talent for some serious dream-state sounds, creating surreal remixes for artists like Above & Beyond, Eric Prydz, ODESZA and more. As he continued to evolve and discover his art, it became clear that Lane 8 wasn’t going to take a traditional route in the world of electronic music, and instead focused on leading listeners into a world outside their own.

Lately, he’s taken on a pioneering approach to eliminate the use of the phones during his shows in an effort to give fans an experience that is surprisingly infrequent. In June, Lane 8 threw a unique ‘This Never Happened’ event in San Francisco, where attendees’ phone cameras were taped over. This gave fans the stand-in opportunity to experience Lane 8’s music in the purest sense along with the self-enforcement not to use their phones. The event turned out to be so successful that Lane 8 has created an entire ‘This Never Happened’ tour surrounding the concept, which is set to kick off in September.

While he might not be forcing EZOO attendees to do the same, Lane 8 will be still be offering an escape from reality in his highly-anticipated set on Friday, September 2nd on the Sunday School Stage. His dark, immersive house rhythms have transformed into something truly transcendent within the past year, which can be dutifully experienced through his recently released two-track EP ‘Divinia / Crush.’ Overall, you can expect Lane 8’s performance at Electric Zoo to be something really special, as he enhances this message of taking in the moment and creating memories that aren’t captured by the flash of a phone.
