Steve Aoki Crushed Sunfest in South Florida

As followers of dance music you’re well aware of the EDM hotspot of Miami, and probably know the scene is strong in Orlando, Tampa, and even Tallahassee. However once a year, the best kept secret area of West Palm Beach hosts its own festival right on the water featuring a wide variety of artists. In 2015 Sunfest brought its first major DJ headliner Kaskade to wow the crowd, and for 2016 the festival brought Dim Mak’s own Steve Aoki.13131339_10153439165821196_7291673075067080396_o

The festival is spread out of 5 days and 3 stages, but Steve took the headlining slot at the main stage on Friday. By the time he hit the stage, the crowd was packed in all the way to the water’s edge. Playing a full 90 minute set, Steve incorporated his classics like “No Beef” along with his newer material from his Neon Future albums and his brand new collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, “Melody“. For a relatively quiet beach town, Steve Aoki blew the lid off the place with an impressive array of LEDs and pyro.13112788_10153439165926196_4478677274669424739_o

Steve showed some local love by bringing out Henry Fong who calls Jupiter, Florida home and has become a regular on Dim Mik and the dance music scene in general. And of course no Steve Aoki show is complete without the signature cake throwing moment, but Steve didn’t waste too much time on the mic overall. Even Damian Pinto, Ultra MC and the “Voice of EDM” was there for the good times. It’s safe to say Steve Aoki put on the wildest show West Palm Beach will see in 2016 and will have local fans clamoring for Sunfest in 2017.
