Arguably one of the most important electronic festivals of the year, EDC Las Vegas has just announced their heart-pounding 2016 lineup! Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella alerted fans a couple of days before to make sure that they listen to his popular Sirius XM Electro podcast Night Owl Radio to find out exactly who will play “under the electric sky.” And no, deadmau5 will not be there. However, Rotella did not make the announcement simple. He released the line-up by playing a few seconds of each artist’s music grouped by stage through a few mini mixes totaling 215 tracks. After a few guesses and a whole lot of waiting, the time has come! It’s Kaskade, Eric Prydz, Pendulum, Knife Party, Hardwell, RL Grime, Zedd, DJ Snake, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, KSHMR, Deorro, Valentino Khan, Tiesto, GTA, Marshmello, Snails, Zomboy, The Chainsmokers, Galantis, A-Trak, Lane 8, Pierce Fulton, Party Favor, Alesso, Jauz…
Beyond merely “announcing” the lineup Pasquale gave us some tidbits about the stages this year. The Neon Garden stage will feature a 50 foot ceiling and a giant disco ball. Wasteland is set to “destroy” the San Francisco design and feature giant containers with graffiti, lights, lasers, and LEDs. Cosmic Meadow will feature an all-new design, but the biggest news comes with Circuit Grounds. As we previously reported, the megastructure is no more and the stage is going to become an open air 360 degree arena. It will also be 3x larger than the megastructure, so perhaps this will be like what we have come to expect from Sensation arena festivals. Last but not least Kinetic Field will be 400 feet wide and 100 feet tall, and feature an iconic centerpiece using top of the line technology. When people enter it won’t even be turned on, but Pasquale will flip the switch later at night. All in all there’s a lot to be excited about.
The 3-day electronic music festival will take place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas on June 17, 18, and 19. According to EDC, GA tickets have just sold out; but a few VIP tickets are still available. For those of you who have yet to purchase your GA ticket to the summer festival, you can try your luck with their official ticket exchange site.
