Blog Uncovers Rare Unmasked Daft Punk Photos From First UK Tour

The entire world knows what Daft Punk looks like on stage. The sought-after helmets are often copied and imitated, but never taken off. They were the original electronic music act to keep their identities secret, noting shyness as the reason.

There aren’t many photos of them in their hay day without their masks on. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo made sure of that. However, there is a Daft Punk blog called DaftBootlegs that has unsurfaced a decent amount of photos of them playing shows at Transmusicales, Even Furthr, the End Club, the Mayan Theatre and more. The blog’s description states:

“This is the only site (to date) that has an almost complete collection of Daft Punk live photos with location and date. As for some of them, they don’t have date and/or location, but if you think you know the date or location, send me an email (daftbootlegs@gmail.com) make sure to specify which pictures, and if possible, please add some proof.”

Notice in some of the photos, they have live gear that has been setup. The two gentlemen would often bring their own equipment to establish a live presence during their shows, which is something that many electronic artists still don’t do to this day. Check out some rare unmasked photos from Daft Punk’s first live UK tour below and be sure to view the entire archive right here.
