Aly & Fila Selected For First Trance Essential Mix In Two Years

While the rise of dubstep and bass music over the last few years, trance, once the pinnacle of the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, gradually saw a lot of its more prominent and leading artists step outside the genre. Those that remained were left to fill the void. And that they did. They kept the genre from being cast into the shadows. Quietly building their following while everyone noticed the new genre’s on the block.

A few names stand out. Neptune Project, Jordan Suckley, Ferry Tayle and a few others alongside stalwarts Paul van Dyk and John O’Callaghan helped take trance through its dark ages and growing pains. Insomniac even acknowledged the resurgence of the genre by awarded fans everywhere with two weekends of pure trance in Dreamstate.

Out of all the names mentioned, Aly & Fila, whom started small when all of this went down, have become legends. Going B2B with industry gods such as Solarstone and Giuseppe Ottaviani and playing in front of the pyramids at Giza during their Future Sound of Egypt shows in 2015, releasing four albums since 2010 (winning A State of Trance’s tune of the year in 2011 with “We Control The Sunlight”) and countless other accomplishments have earned Aly & Fila a coveted spot on the Essential Mix. Check out the first trance Essential Mix in more than two years on February 13th!
