Maceo Plex Destroys 2nd Essential Mix Outing

Maceo Plex
The latest talent to grace the decks of the essential is no stranger to being on the world’s biggest radio program. Already giving us a 30 minute preview earlier this summer when he was featured on the T in the Park Essential Mix special back in July, Maceo Plex is back for a full outing this time.

“Today’s my birthday and for my birthday, I have decided to just play what I want, and explore many styles all for you and not necessarily for the dance floor. I hope that weaving in and out of music that I love will mix with touch your senses in some profound way.”

With his new album Solar on the way, slated for debut in early 2016, those IDs that are sprinkled into the mix could very well be previews of his own forthcoming works. Other pieces that were included in the two hour masterpiece are Vangelis’ Blade Runner End Titles (Unknown Remix), Röyksopp’s “Compulsion”, lots of material from off White Label and more, the decorated artist guides the listener through a history of his influences and tracks that he currently loves.

“What I’d like for the listeners to gather from this Essential Mix is a closer look at all the musical soundscapes that inspire my own productions. As well as an intimate portrait of my roots stretching back to the early 90s when I began. Instead of playing all the newest unreleased hits, I’ve woven old and new music that I feel will grow on the listener the more they listen to it.”

I won’t delve any further into the mix. Go listen to it for yourself. What a perfect way to start your Monday.
