Francis Preve – A Night At The Opera (Original Mix)

After a five year hiatus from publishing music, Francis Preve has been cranking out the tunes in 2015. First in April, his Weeble EP thrust him out of the gate in style and has kept that momentum up with his Feed Good EP featuring Jan Van Lier and a remix from Medicinne.

His latest offering, another gem on the Audiophile Deep label in Dallas “A Night at the Opera”, while only being a single this time, shows why Francis Preve is acclaimed as a synth guru. This “tribal techno tour-de-force” takes the audience back to the 90s (even though some listeners won’t remember what it was like in the underground rave scene) and is infused with TR-909 percussive elements and given a nice rinse with some a haunting background atmosphere.

Beginning with the ever-simple 909 tom as the kick drum, the track gradually builds as chanting voices, faint muffles and sliced samples culminate in a surprisee, but very fitting, breakdown that matches the title of the composition. We don’t want to spoil it for you, so you’re just going to have to listen to the preview and then go snag it for you record collection.
