Back in July, startup dance duo Ephwurd revealed their identities as bass music kingpins Datsik and Bais Haus, along with the release of their eventual summer anthem ‘Rock the Party‘ on Spinnin’ Records. The duo have been extremely successful in bringing their signature bass sounds into the realm of house music, and they continue to prove that with the release of their remix of Oliver Heldens‘ ‘Shades of Grey‘ with Shaun Frank & Delaney Jane.
Right off the bat, you’ll notice that Ephwurd decided to change the pitch of Delaney Jane’s vocals, giving the tune a darker, more dramatic build, as compared to Jane’s original delivery. Ephwurd is clearly starting to individualize themselves from the rest of the house music world; even after just three originals and one other remix, the ‘Ephwurd sound’ is becoming very recognizable.
